Overview Machine Setter

My client, a large global manufacturer is currently looking for skilled Machine Setters to join them on both permanent and contract basis. Successful Machine Setters will be responsible for setting, checking and calibrating all gauging equipment within a cell, the start-up, re-setting, running and shut-down of all machines in that cell, first line maintenance, training operators in line with training plans, and allocation of daily tasks to ensure output targets are achieved in line with quality and health and safety standards.

 

 

Role Responsibilies of Machine Setter

  • To be responsible for the setting, checking and calibration of all gauging equipment within a cell.
  • To be responsible for the start-up, re setting, running and shut-down of all machines in a cell, including fixtures, tooling (including ordering)
  • To be responsible for the training of operators within a cell
  • To allocate daily tasks to operators within a cell to ensure output targets are achieved in line with quality and health and safety standards.
  • To ensure effective day by day communication to all operators within a cell with regard to output targets, performance, achievement against MOP’s, and issues affecting quality.
  • To assist in the development and implementation of process improvement activities, including process control, scrap reduction and TQ activity.
  • To be responsible for ensuring effective material flow including the receipt, handling, storage and delivery of all materials to and from, and within a cell.
  • To be responsible for ensuring first line maintenance of all plant and machinery within a cell (including coolants and filtration).

 

Qualification/Experience of Machine Setter

  • Recognised apprenticeship or similar technical qualification
  • Motivated team player, committed to total quality
  • Experience in similar high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Experience of calibration, setting and testing gauging equipment
  • Experience of using micrometers

 

This role will involve shift work.

Current shift pattern availability:

  • Rotating 3 shifts may also become available 6AM-2PM, 2PM-10PM, 10PM-6AM
  • Permanent weekend DAYS either Fri/Sat/Sun OR Sat/Sun/Mon - 7AM-7PM – total of 36 hours
  • Permanent weekend NIGHTS Fri/Sat/Sun - 7PM-7AM – total of 36 hours 

Overtime is available

The successful Machine Setter will be remunerated with a package including 

  • Salary up to £35,000 dependent on experience
  • 20 days annual leave (rising to 25 days after 1 year subject to shift pattern) + Bank Holidays
