Job Title: Assembler

My client, based in Minchinhampton, is looking for an Assembler to join their team on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for accomplishing manufacturing results through the correct assembly of products in accordance with production procedures and processes, to quality standards and in a timely fashion.

Key Responsibilities – Assembler

  • Following instructions, training and guidance from Team Leader & Supervisors
  • Assembling electronic components, subassemblies, products or systems to the appropriate quality standards as defined by the company
  • Reading work orders, following production drawings and sampling assembles to ensure items are assembled correctly
  • Checking kits and tools required to complete assembly are present with the correct parts and quantities
  • Positioning and aligning parts in specified orders/relationships to each other in jig, fixture or other holding device as stated on assembly instructions
  • Measuring, cutting to length, stripping and crimping cables and wires as specified by assembly instructions
  • Screwing, bolting, riveting, soldering, cementing, press fitting, or performing similar operations to join or secure parts in place
  • Using hand tools, power tools, machines and equipment
  • Connecting component lead wires to printed circuit or route
  • Connecting wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals and contact points, using soldering or related bonding procedures and equipment
  • Performing intermediate assembly tasks, such as potting, encapsulating, cleaning, epoxy bonding, curing and coating assemblies
  • Assembling and attaching hardware such as caps, clamps, knobs and switches to assemblies
  • Installing finished subassemblies in boxes and cases
  • Fitting labels, panel overlays and markers to cable assemblies, units and boxes
  • Performing on-line go-not-go testing and inspection using magnifying devices, measuring instruments and electronic test equipment to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards
  • Filling in relevant data sheets and product movement forms as per job requirements
  • Populating components such as transformers, resistors, transistors, capacitors, integrated circuits and sockets on printed circuit board assemblies
  • Participating in continuous improvement activities within the manufacturing department
  • Complying with the Health and Safety policies and procedures and working in a manner that is safe for both yourself and colleagues
  • Reporting all potential hazards, near misses and incidents to the Supervisor or Line Manager

Qualifications & Requirements – Assembler

  • Previous experience of working in production or assembly is essential for this role
  • Experience working in a similar electro-mechanical manufacturing environment would be desirable but not essential
  • Good dexterity
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work using your own initiative as well as part of a team

  • Hourly rate of £9.83 per hour
  • Hours of work - Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-5:00pm (with ½ hour lunch break) & Friday, 8:30am-2:30pm
  • Immediate start
  • 20 days holiday, increasing to 25 days after 3 years of service & 26 after 10 years of service
  • Pension scheme - employer 5% & employee 5%
  • Discretionary Christmas bonus - up to 3%
