WARNING! DON’T apply for a job with us before reading the following!
It’s really hard to get a feel for what it’s like to work for a new employer without actually spending any time there. It’s madness that we spend most of our lives at work and base our decision to accept a job offer on an interview with one or two people in a meeting room.
For that reason, may we present to you a few of our amazing Omega team …be prepared for brutal honesty, bad jokes and “fish by the canal”!
First up, Anna:
“I have worked for Omega for the last five and a half years. What sets Omega apart from the other recruitment companies that I have worked for is the feeling of real teamwork.
The staff turnover here is very low for the industry, which shows I am not the only one who feels this way.
There is lots of technical knowledge in the building therefore, if I am ever recruiting a skillset within engineering that I’m less familiar with, I can always chat to a colleague and get some pointers.
Success is recognised and celebrated, and the management team are approachable and supportive.
Stonehouse is a very easy location to get to and it’s a pleasant semi-rural environment, where you can have lunch by the canal and watch the fish!”
Anna Hinton – Recruitment Consultant
Our Anna has lots of experience, but even if you’re fresh out of University – if you have the right level of passion, energy and dedication to our clients, we can help you with the skills and training.
“I graduated from university in 2014 and Omega gave me the chance to enter the world of recruitment as a Trainee Consultant.
Throughout my time here I have been constantly challenged and pushed which has allowed for continued development and growth on a professional and a personal level.
The environment and the culture is very much one of a friendship circle or even of a family which is only enhanced by a variety of social events, whether that be going to the races, stupidly jumping out of a plane or just having a cold cider on Friday afternoon.”
Scott Montgomery – Business Manager
Did somebody mention bad jokes? We’d like to introduce you to Giles! An Omega veteran of over 15 years:
“I have been working at Omega for over 15 years and to be honest the reason is simple, my car indicator only indicates right so when I leave for work every morning after 6 right turns I arrive at the Omega HQ in Stonehouse. I even tried to leave by moving to a new house but that didn’t work, and I still ended up here. I call it Karma.
OK maybe not completely true! I love working for Omega because they have always given me the freedom to develop my desk, allowed me to offer my clients different solutions and gave me the trust to deliver my numbers.
They allow me the flexibility to work from home, even before COVID, not only to cut the number of right turns down but so I can focus on recruitment activity.
I love the fact I am allowed to recruit most disciplines and take on new challenges - it has certainly meant that I have a much more rounded recruiter.”
Giles Churchill – Principal Consultant
To sum it up, we care. We care about our clients, our candidates and each other. When we say that we put our hearts and soul into Omega we mean it. So, if you’re looking for an easy 9-5 without stretching your emotions, feelings and really digging deep then we may not be the right fit. If you want to make a difference however…
Andrew, please explain:
“I have worked for Omega for nearly 6 years now and what I enjoy most about being with the business, specifically on-site recruitment, is that every day you have the ability to help people.
Whether that’s someone looking to save money for University, someone starting their life over and trying to get back on their feet or those completely new to the job market looking to get their foot in the door.
Just knowing that you’ve helped in some small way make someone’s life that little bit better by getting them in to work can be a very rewarding feeling.”
Andrew Johnson, Account Manager
And finally, isn’t life too short to be all work and no fun?
Lucy thinks so:
“I joined Omega nearly 4 years ago and it has been a whirlwind of excitement!
I think one of the things that sets Omega apart from other recruitment companies I have worked for in the past is that they promote balance, so even on the days where things seem tougher, we still manage to have fun and a laugh within the office and uplift each other
Also, if we have a big project come in it is all hands-on deck and everyone just gets stuck in, no matter what their position within the business.
If you are looking for a company that recognises hard work, perseverance, and dedication, then look no further than Omega!
Success is recognised and rewarded even down to those little touches like early finishes, awards, social activities and probably most importantly to everyone in the office…being fed!”
