Agency Workers Directive Seminar

18 August 2010

Posted by: James Strickland  tags:  AWD, BPE, Omega, Apsco, Agency Worker Regulations

We have received a huge amount of interest in the seminar from across the industry.  However since launching the invitations for this event it has come to light that the new coalition government have decided to review the Regulations which implement the Agency Workers Directive in the UK, and we laid before Parliament by the last government.  They have confirmed that this review will be completed imminently and we anticipate their response by November/December 2010.

With this in mind we have decided along with our guest speakers from BPE and APSCO to postpone the planned event next week.  It’s a very important directive and we all feel that we need to provide information to the audience which is accurate and up to date.  Regrettably therefore we have decided to postpone this until January 2011 (date to be confirmed).

This new AWD Directive and the associated UK Regulations will have both legal and commercial implications on your business so I do hope you understand why we have postponed the event.

DISCOVER HOW THE NEW LEGISLATION WILL IMPACT ON YOUR BUSINESS AT THE AWD SEMINAR, HOSTED BY OMEGA RESOURCE GROUP AND BPE SOLICITORS.

The Agency Workers Regulations 2010, which implement the Agency Workers Directive, will give agency workers a right to equal treatment with their directly recruited counterparts, from October 2011.
The Regulations fundamentally affect the use and supply of agency workers, ensuring that those workers receive comparable treatment to permanent employees, including the same pay, hours and holidays.
The Government’s intention had been for the new rules to come into force during 2010, however having established that the new rules would lead to fundamental and costly changes for those who both use and supply agency workers, the  implementation was postponed to allow time for those affected to prepare for the changes.
