Company Profile:
Our clients are an internationally renowned automotive component manufacturers, designing and fabricating thousands of innovative pre and post market products for use in a huge range of vehicles. They are currently looking for a Lead Process Engineer to join their growing team at their advanced Manufacturing complex in Northamptonshire.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape and optimize the manufacturing process of existing production lines and design and commission robot equipped production lines for major projects bringing those up to full volume manufacture.


Main Duties:
1. Product Design and Appreciation
*To understand and interpret internal and customer specifications and be able to comprehend the impact of critical functionalities on both jig & fixture design and the volume production process.
*Be confident at understanding technical drawings and be able to interpret and extract accurate and meaningful data.
*A proven track record of design buy off and be capable of a prudent judgement of design prior to design freeze and engineering buy off in terms of volume manufacture, process capability and supplier process capability.

2. Process Planning/Optimisation
*A proven track record in process design with the ability to design a robust production process capable of meeting volume targets and quality/cost/delivery measures. To meet capability and repeatability requirements within cost targets.
*Confidence in converting process designs into solid line designs whilst giving consideration to machine, tooling and labour requirements.
*During the planning stages, machine and tooling specification design is key and consideration should be given to environmental and ergonomic requirements, process sequence, flow and location requirements before/after machine cycle.
*Be Data driven, methodical and have experience of making evidence based decisions
*Proven track record in improving safety, quality, delivery and cost performance - development and implementation of process controls.
*Support internal and external audit processes
*Implement and support training initiatives to transfer knowledge as required

3. Machine Sense
*Ability to develop a full understanding of the machine during the machine build process and work in conjunction with the machine suppliers. Particular care must be taken to review the machine progress against specification and timing plan.
*Proven ability to negotiate machine modifications and improvements at supplier to achieve a "win, win" situation. Development of a full machine test to ensure the success of the project.
*Confidence in installing and commissioning machinery to include planning and facilitating delivery and movement of machine to location. When commissioning machinery the project engineer must ensure that the machine conforms to the specification and meets capability approval.
*Demonstrate ability to fault find in a systematic & methodical way to resolve issues and optimise processes.
*Practical Problem Solving experience and proven record of working with accepted methods.

Experience / Skills:
*Previous experience in engineering in a manufacturing environment
*Minimum of HNC or above in an engineering discipline
*Welding appreciation and experience
*Robots appreciation and experience
*Exposure to internal and external Customers
*IT literate, able to generate and analyse data
*Ability to read engineering drawings
*Self-motivated, strong, confident communicator
*Theory and Practical knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Six-Sigma techniques, Commercial capability and Product quality awareness

A "hands-on-approach" is required with considerable time spent on the shop floor working closely with Production Management and Personnel.

Remuneration:
Dependant on experience with a guide of 40k-45k + a generous supporting package
